Gulf Islands, BC

Image
Just going through some pictures of the Gulf Islands. I toured there back in early July, 2009. Great trip, Extraordinary weather. Loved the scenery and enjoyed the tide challenges. I'll have to go back for a longer visit in a more remote spot next time

Benjamin Islands

I had a great time in the Benjamin Islands last week despite the "back" issues. A beautiful place for sure but its not getting away from the crowds. The Churchhill Islands will be next - less crowded, lots of reefs, and just my place to be.

Tow Line Upgrade

Just finished reading a book on kayak safety and rescue and decided to update my "throw line" package into a proper "tow line" system. I added a snap buckle to the one end of the rope for quick attachment and release and I also bought a tie-down strap device with a quick release buckle so I can attach the package to my waist. Isn't pretty but works fine. I am confident that when I need it now I will be prepared.

Last day of kayaking

Wednesday, November 5th What a beautiful day - 19C! It was work day but I had some holidays that I needed to use up before the end of the year so I decided to take the afternoon off. At the lake launching point there wasn't a soul around. The entire lake was mine for the afternoon. What a change from those summer days of speeding power boats and fishing expeditions. The wind was up a bit and there was 1' waves but that didn't take anything from the day as I made my way up the lake. What a great feeling being out there alone, paddling in November, and loving every minute of it
